Product designer, Massimo Bottura fan, aspiring polyglot.

I was given the opportunity to invent and build my first product (The Corn Crusher) in 5th grade (no, I don’t have any photos of it but I can guarantee it was a premium product). I was endlessly curious and I loved exploring how I could bring seemingly unrelated parts together to solve everyday problems.

In hindsight, much of my curiosity stemmed in part from being a Third Culture Kid. Having a front row seat to two, at times at odds with each other, cultures, I witnessed Eastern traditions and Western culture at play. This seat provided a rich foundation for exploration and a unique view into how different parts of the world function and operate.

When my 5th grade assignment tasked us with inventing a product, I knew this was my chance to build something that could help people and make someone’s life easier. I wanted to give women in developing countries the opportunity to build their own mortar and pestle using affordable and available resources. I studied common cooking methods, kitchen tools and their mechanics and I designed a prototype. After sketching some ideas, figuring out the proper measurements, and finding the closest pair of lefty scissions, I took a one-gallon milk jug, two wooden dowels, and some nails, and I built a functioning mortal and pestle.

This same desire to build and create led me to pursue a career in Film and Television production. Working alongside Wes Anderson, not only was I able to organize, build, and create a film, but I learned the craft of precision and witnessed the labor required to bring a vision to life.

I brought these skills with me when I joined an early stage analytics startup in San Francisco. I applied the writing and organizational skills I developed on set to help create and shape the company's messaging and brand.

I earned my master’s degree from UC Berkeley where I dove head first into all things product design and came out on the other side ready to tackle the world’s newest design challenges.

Most recently, I led design efforts at Sisu Data in our partnership with Google’s analytics tool, Looker.
